Bold 9800 Slider Getting Its Name Changed to BlackBerry Torch?
on Tuesday, June 15, 2010
Just when you thought the BlackBerry 9800 Slider was in fact going to be apart of the Bold family, it actually might not. The 9800 Slider is the first BlackBerry to include a touch-screen and a full qwerty keyboard that happens to slide-out. We can see why RIM would add the 9800 to the Bold family for marketing purposes, given how well accepted the Bold-line has been. However, RIM may be planning on putting the 9800 in its own family as the BlackBerry Torch.
Apparently, RIM has really been considering using the name 'Torch'. This makes sense considering all along the 9800 has been codenamed with a 'T'. First the 9800 was codenamed as Mr. T and then later on as Talladega. It is being said that there are 9800's with the Torch branding already being manufactured at RIM's plant in Guadalajara, Mexico. Even more, the domain BlackBerryTorch.com was purchased by RIM in April, according to the whois.
It will be very interesting to see whether or not RIM will keep it as the Bold 9800 or make it the Torch 9800. What do you think, should they keep brand-awareness and leave it as a 'Bold' or change to 'Torch'?

BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slider Beginning to Appear on App World Purchases?
on Thursday, June 3, 2010
If you had any doubts that the BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slider was going to be on AT&T, or was even real, this might help you believe. Developers are now reporting that they are seeing the Bold 9800 show up in their lists of purchases in App World. It shows the Slider running OS 6 and being on AT&T in the USA.
We're assuming this goes along with what we've heard about the Bold 9800 Slider currently being in AT&T R&D the past few weeks. If this is the case, it would lead us to think a summer release is imminent. What do you think? Is the Slider on its way?

BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slider Gets A Nice Video Walk-Through; Shows BlackBerry 6 on Touchscreen
on Monday, May 24, 2010
The guys over at The Berry Fix on a new video of the BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slider. This is a nice walk-through of BlackBerry 6, which shows the pinch-to-zoom swipe gestures, YouTube integration, and how the upcoming OS 6 works with a touchscreen. The Slider also sports an AT&T splash screen, hinting that this device isn't too far away from a release. We are told this is the first device to release with BlackBerry 6 and also have heard rumors of it going to Sprint, eventually.
At first the Slider was not well received, but with more and more information, pictures, video being leaked people seem to have a change of heart. Do you like the Slider?
