on Saturday, June 5, 2010
We were tipped that selected people have been invited to beta test Facebook app v1.8 from the BlackBerry Beta Zone. Version 1.8.0 is in fact a maintenance release, and focuses mainly on enhancing the performance of the already existing application, including speed improvements for loading photos, friends list and the News Feed.
Below is a list of the new features and enhancements that have been
implemented in Facebook® v1.8.0:
- Notifications: You can now receive Facebook® notifications without
associating an email address with your BlackBerry® device. - Notification Email Messages: You can now stop receiving Facebook®
email notifications that are sent to the email address that you
specified in your Facebook® account. - Friend List Performance Enhancements: The friend list should now
load faster. - Photo Performance Enhancements: Photos and photo albums should now
load faster, and photo thumbnails are now larger.
The following is a list of all the issues that have been fixed since the
in-market version of Facebook® for BlackBerry® smartphones:
- You can now use shortcut keys when using the Korean version of
Facebook® for BlackBerry® smartphones. - Previously, if you were using your device in German, Indonesian,
or Dutch, some commands might not have been translated correctly. - You can now log into the Facebook® application when you attempt to
compose a Facebook® message from the Messages application.
Here is a video to show its upgraded speed:
